2012 Russian Team Championship
The 2012 Russian Team Chess Championships are underway in the Black Sea resort of Sochi.
The competition format has changed from previous years - it's now a seven-round Swiss event running from 9-15 April. There are 18 teams chasing the title and many elite players taking part, including Fabiano Caruana, Sergey Karjakin, Alexander Morozevich, Peter Svidler and many other 2700+ Elo rated players (see below).
The team ShSM-64 from Moscow are the ratings favourites with Caruana, Wang Hao, Leko and Giri among their team. After 2 rounds the Thomsk-400 team are the leaders. Teams consist of 6 players and 2 reserves.

The time control is 90 minutes for 40 moves then 30 minutes to a finish, with a 30 second increment from the start. Games start at 15:00 local time (11:00 UTC).
