Adams Wins Gibtelecom Masters
England's Mickey Adams (pictured) won the Gibtelecom Masters after an exciting 4-way playoff.
Adams rode his luck after losing the first rapid game of his semi-final playoff with Germany's Jan Gustafsson, but he recovered to level the scores in the second game and then win the armageddon decider.
Paco Vallejo Pons won the other semi-final against Chanda Sandipan to make the final an England v Spain affair - rather appropriate for Gibraltar!
In the end it was a convincing victory for Adams, winning the first game and offering a draw in a winning position in the second. His prize was a cheque for £15,000.
Natalia Zhukova won the £8,000 prize for the best placed woman.
