After a quick draw in his last-round game against number two Sargissian, Adams secured a smooth victory at the Magistral Ruy L?ɬ?pez yesterday.

Michael Adams was the highest rated player in M?ɬ©rida, and did what he was supposed to. Three draws (against Granda, Zhang Pengxiang and Sargissian) and four wins (Koneru, Hou Yifan, P?ɬ©rez Candelario and Caruana) sums it up well.

A fine second place was for Zhang Pengxiang and third ended Sargissian. Top talents Caruana and Hou Yifan had a bit of a hard time against "experience", and finished 2,5 and 2 / 7 respectively. Local hero P?ɬ©rez Candelario, who's also Alexei Shirov's second, finished on an exellent fifth place last year but couldn't repeat it this time.

Here are some games from the last four rounds. In the second, Granda resigns after a well-known blunder in the opening, where other players managed to draw with Black (and one even won).
