Adams Wins Metropolitan Chess International
The top seed Michael Adams (pictured) triumphed at the 1st Metropolitan Chess International in Los Angeles, with a score of 7½/9.
In the 9-round Swiss event, Loek Van Wely was among the pack of half-dozen players a point behind on 6½/9.
Congratulations also to FM Michael Lee, who achieved an IM norm with his 5½/9 score.
The tournament was organised by NM Ankit Gupta for Metropolitan Chess. The Metropolitan Chess organisation aims to promote chess through community outreach and partnerships, and to provide opportunities for chess players through regular GM/IM norm tournaments.
Much of the event was covered live at Chess.com TV, and is available for replay to premium members. Also, an excellent 5 minute professional video recap of the final rounds is available at Vimeo here, thanks to Ice Hat Creative, featuring interviews with several of the players.
Earlier videos of the tournament from Ice Hat Creative are available here and here (including an interview with Danny Rensch!).
