This summer, again there will be no Amsterdam Chess Tournament. At first, the organizers were quite optimistic to achieve a second beginning with the Amsterdam Chess Tournament in 2008, but last month the negotiations with the potential main sponsor were stopped.

Just like in the years 2004-2006, the city of Amsterdam was prepared to give some financial aid, but this help was not enough to garantuee a strong ACT. For this, according to the organizers, a main sponsor is necessary.
