We have just received, from our friends at Russell Enterprises, the 21st Century Edition of
Nottingham 1936.This new edition of Alexander Alekhine's last tournament book, has the original masterful texts, annotations using figurine algebraic notation and many added diagrams.Alekhine writes in his usual his self-confident style, and devotes his attention to "playing the board" as well as "playing the man".Four of the participants in the Nottingham tournament had held the world title (a historic record!): Capablanca, Euwe, Lasker and Alekhine himself.Among the other players we find youngsters as Reshevsky, Fine, Flohr, Botvinnik, and the veterans Tartakower, Vidmar and Bogoljubow.Do we need to say more? Here is a
historic clash of generations.
