Anand-Kramnik: half of the tickets sold

Today in exactly three weeks the World Championship match between Viswanathan Anand and Vladimir Kramnik starts. In a press release the organizers are warning the chess fans that "almost half of the overall 5.000 tickets (for the whole event) are sold."

The most important chess event of the year 2008 will take place in the Art and Exhibition Hall of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bonn. From October 14th till November 2nd, Viswanathan Anand from India will be defending his world champion title against challenger Vladimir Kramnik from Russia. The prize fund is 1.5 million Euro. Patron is German Finance Minister Peer Steinbr?ɬºck and main sponsor is Evonik Industries AG.

Rate of play & tiebreak The match consists of twelve games, with a classic rate of play: 120 minutes for 40 moves, then 60 minutes for 20 moves and then 15 minutes for the rest of the game plus 30 seconds increment, starting from move 61. If the match ends in a tie, a tiebreak will be played on November 02, 2008. The tiebreak consists of four rapid games, if needed two blitz games and if needed, one sudden-death game.

Arbiters and Appeals Committee FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov has appointed the Appeals Committee for the World Championship Match. The arbiters of the match have also been approved by the FIDE President. The arbiters are: Panagiotis Nikolopoulos (GRE) ?¢‚Ǩ‚Äú Chief Arbiter, Werner Stubenvoll (AUT) and Hal Bond (CAN) ?¢‚Ǩ‚Äú Debuty Arbiters. The Appeals Committee: Florencio Campomanes (PHI) ?¢‚Ǩ‚Äú Chairman, Nigel Freeman (BER) and Israel Gelfer (ISR) ?¢‚Ǩ‚Äú Members.

The advance booking for the World Chess Championship 2008 between World Champion Viswanathan Anand and Vladimir Kramnik is in full swing. The organizer Universal Event Promotion (UEP) informs that almost half of the overall 5.000 tickets (for the whole event) are sold.

"Some of the twelve matchdays could be sold-out soon. Therefore we advise all interested persons to save their tickets for the favoured days via advance booking", emphasizes Stefan Koth, CEO of UEP and event manager of the World Chess Championship. The same concerns the limited and exclusive VIP tickets, where also 70 per cent are sold.

The tickets are available at the price of 35 Euro per day. The following benefits are included: - entrance to the playing hall - entrance to the commentary room with analysis by prominent grandmasters. Together with various guests there will be discussions around chess.
