Anand v Topalov Game 6
The world championship match between Vishy Anand and Veselin Topalov is shaping up to be a classic encounter with volcanoes, off-board controversy and great games. Game 5 added another element to the mix - a power cut!
The players, officials, commentators and spectators were plunged into darkness at the Central Military Club in Sofia. The power cut also affected other local areas of the Bulgarian capital, and the organisers have now acquired their own generators to avoid a recurrence!
A statement from the organisers about the incident is here.
After 15 minutes of darkness the players resumed a fascinating psychological duel, where Topalov again probed for weakness in Anand's Slav defence. The challenger came away empty handed so Anand leads 3-2 going into game 6.
Game 6 starts at 12:00 GMT on 1 May and Chess.com will have live coverage for Platinum and Diamond mambers at Chess.com TV.
UPDATE: ANOTHER DRAW IN GAME 6 LEAVES ANAND 3.5-2.5 AHEAD AT HALFWAY POINT
