FIDE has announced that the forthcoming Anand v Topalov World Chess Championship match due this year is likely to be delayed until early in 2010.  This hardly comes as a surprise, since the recent Topalov v Kamsky match was itself delayed by several months, and anyway this is FIDE we are talking about after all...

Also included in FIDE's press release is the following description of the WCC cycle:

In 2011, there will be a Candidate Matches/Tournament consisting of GM Kamsky, the loser of the Anand-Topalov match, two players from the Grand Prix series and one player from the World Cup, two highest rated players not already qualified and a player nominated by the organizer. The winner will play the World Champion in 2011.

I'm don't think I'm going out on much of a limb to suggest that the nominated player will very likely be a certain Mr. Vladimir Kramnik...
