After a close contest on the first day, Vishy Anand sealed victory in the Botvinnik Memorial Rapid with two wins on the second day.

Anand started with a draw against Kramik and then beat Aronian with white, and Carlsen with black, to finish clear first on an undefeated 4½/6 points.

In contrast it was a very bad second day for Magnus Carlsen, who lost all his games to finish last.

The time control was 25 minutes plus 10 second increment, and the excellent live video coverage is available to replay here, via the official website.

A separate women's competition in the same format took place alongside the men's event, and Viktorija Cmilyte maintained her lead from the first day to win with 4/6.
