2012 Ankara Grand Prix Underway
The final FIDE Women's Grand Prix of the 2011/12 series is underway in Ankara, Turkey (see previous news report here).
The result of the series determines the challenger for the 2013 Women's World Championship.
The tournament is a 12-player single round-robin event. The final round is on 28 September, and there are rest days on 20 and 25 September.
The first round was a lively start, resulting in 4 decisive games out of 6, with Ruan Lufei, Viktorija Cmilyte, Humpy Koneru and Zhao Xue starting with victories.
