Anton Korobov Wins Ukrainian Championship
Anton Korobov won the 2012 Ukrainian Chess Championship which took place from 26 July - 7 August in Kiev.
It was an excellent result for Korobov (pictured), who finished a full point ahead of the very strong field with an undefeated score of 8/11 in this 12-player round-robin event. The only notable absentee from among the top Ukrainian players was Vassily Ivanchuk.
Defending champion and top seed Ruslan Ponomariov could only manage a disappointing 4th place finish.
