Etienne Bacrot (pictured) has won the 12th Poikovsky Tournament with a score of 5½/9, just beating last year's winner Sergey Karjakin by virtue of a superior tie-break score.

The tournament ran from 4-13 October and was the strongest field ever assembled for the event.

Despite the strong line-up the tournament failed to produce much excitement, with a very high number of draws - less than 25% of the games were decisive.

The official website (in Russian) is here.
