Bu Xiangzhi Wins First Danzhou Tournament

China is increasingly a force to be reckoned with in world chess, so it's worth keeping an eye on Chinese events.

Bu Xiangzhi won the inaugural Danzhou Tournament in Hainan province on tie-break from Li Chao with a score of 6/9.

One of the top players in the event, Nia Hua, who finished ahead of Nakamura and Short at last year's London Chess Classic, finished in a very disappointing last place.

The 16 year-old women's talent Hou Yifan also struggled against the strong field, finishing ninth.
