The hugely powerful German chess league - the Schach Bundesliga - is currently reaching the conclusion to the 2008/09 season.  The reigning champions, OSG Baden-Baden are leading and look set to take their fourth title in a row.

Playing top board for OSG Baden-Baden this weekend is none other than Vishy Anand.  You know you have a good club side when you can draft in the world champion to play!  The rest of the team are no slouches either, with regular players this season including the likes of Alexei Shirov, Peter Svidler, Etienne Bacrot and Arkadij Naiditsch.

In his first game of the weekend, Anand produced a sparkling game against the talented young Dutch player Daniel Stellwagen.  It seems that Anand's recent flirtation with the Sicilian Poisoned Pawn (an old Bobby Fischer favourite) was not a one-off!

Even if you don't speak German, it's well worth visiting the official site and trying a few links.  Click 'Partien' for links to the archived games.  Live games are also available by clicking the venue links on the home page.
