[TABLE=149]

And here a selecion of the most interesting games. Chess journalist Stefan Loeffler played a nice, original game against Lothar Vogt where the exchange of White's black-squared bishop didn't help Black from being crushed. Champion of France Maxime Vachier-Lagrave did a good job too, against Petr Haba's Petroff. After 13...Qc8?! Black never really got into the game anymore. Wojtaszek-Kasimdzhanov was another paragraph in the highly topical Semi-Slav - in this case White was outplayed slowly. Impressive was Ivanchuk's victory with Black against Luke McShane. From the start, the Ukrainian wanted to force an ending, and after the queens got exchanged, indeed he proved the better player in that area. The young Dutch IM Robin Swinkels won a nice hedgehog against Gennadij Fish and an even bigger Dutch success was for Dani?ɬ´l Stellwagen: he managed to beat Peter Svidler with Black. The Russian seemed to have a crushing attack, but Dani?ɬ´l defended very well (the key move 25...d4! might have been missed by Svidler). Carlsen's interesting 9.Rxd4 had been played only once (in a game Kuntsztowicz-Dankert a long time ago, where Black did 9...Nb6) and it yielded him a slight edge. But the experienced Jussupow managed to keep it that way, and drew relatively comfortably.

Today the following matches are being played:

TV Tegernsee      - SC Kreuzberg
SC Eppingen       - SK Zehlendorf
SV M?ɬºlheim Nord   - Bindlach-Aktion?ɬ§r
SF Katernberg     - Erfurter SK
OSC Baden Baden - SV Wattenscheid
SG Turm Trier - Aljechin Solingen
Hamburger SK - SC 1950 Remagen
SV Werder Bremen - Godesberger SK

A report on these matches will follow. A number of live games can be followed here and here at this very moment.
