Carlsen And Karjakin Win In Round 5 At Medias
Magnus Carlsen and Sergey Karjakin won their fifth round games at the Bazna Kings tournament in Medias, Romania.
Carlsen made short work of Nisipeanu in a QGA, taking advantage of Nisipeanu's uncoordinated pieces. Ivanchuk allowed the tactical shot 16...Bxh3 after which his position fell apart against Karjakin.
Radjabov v Nakamura was a very exciting encounter which ended in a draw. Another great round of chess!
The standings after round five:
1 | Carlsen, Magnus | NOR | 2815 | 3½ |
2 | Karjakin, Sergey | RUS | 2776 | 3 |
