Carlsen Defeats Wang Hao In Biel
World #1 Magnus Carlsen followed up his win on the 'rest day' at the Biel GM tournament by beating the leader Wang Hao with the black pieces to catch him in the standings.
It had seemed an unlikely victory for Carlsen for much of the game, but the tide turned following the exchange of Queens when he took advantage of a slip from his opponent to play 46...Nb6!
Both the other games in round 7 ended in draws, so Victor Bologan finally gets his name on the scoreboard!

The Biel Chess Festival runs from 21 July - 3 August. The main GM tournament is a 6-player double round-robin which started on Monday 23 July and will finish on 2 August. Magnus Carlsen is defending the title he won in 2011.
