chess-olympiad-2010-logo.jpgAfter round four at the Chess Olympiad in Khanty-Mansiysk, seven teams have won all their matches in the Open section so far.

There were few surprises in round four, with team results going to form. However, there was a big individual scalp claimed when the Georgian Baadur Jobava did what "The World" failed to do recently by convincingly beating world #1 Magnus Carlsen.

Both the Russia 1 and Russia 2 teams are still among the leaders, but Russia 3 lost to Armenia.

Russia 1 beat the USA 3-1 thanks to wins by Grischuk (against Kamsky) and Karjakin (against Onischuk).

All the results and games are available at the official website.  The chess-results website also has information on all the results.

The leading teams are now:

Seed  Team W D L TB1 TB2
4  Russia 2 4 0 0 8 55
20  Georgia 4 0 0 8 52
27  Vietnam 4 0 0 8 52
1  Russia 1 4 0 0 8 50
5  Hungary 4 0 0 8 45
13  Netherlands 4 0 0 8 45
6  Armenia 4 0 0 8 43

In round five Russia 2 take on Armenia, Russia 1 face Hungary and Georgia face Vietnam.  Sunday 26 Sept is a rest day, so round six is on Monday.

In the women's competition, the Russia 1 team beat holders Georgia in a crucial encounter.  There are now only four undefeated teams left, Russia 1, China, Bulgaria and Ukraine.
