Despite world champion Vishy Anand's best efforts, Magnus Carlsen won the final of the Arctic Securities Chess Stars rapid event in Norway.

Anand qualified in first place with 5/6 compared to Carlsen's 3.5/6 but he lost the first game of the final with the black pieces and made no headway with the white pieces in game two, losing 1.5-0.5 to the world #1.

In the 3rd/4th place playoff Jon Ludvig Hammer won the second game to beat Judit Polgar 1.5-0.5 and take third spot.
