Chennai Bid For Anand v Gelfand Match

fide logo big.gifBREAKING NEWS - Chennai bid received for World Championship match between Vishy Anand and Boris Gelfand.

FIDE have reported that a bid to host the 2012 world championship match has been received from the All India Chess Federation.

The bid is being sponsored by the Tamil Nadu government to the tune of 200 million rupees (approx 4.5 million US dollars).

This bid is the second received to host the match, after a previous bid from Moscow, thought to be worth 2 million US dollars.

The deadline expires on 31 July, and it is uncertain whether there will be any further bids, from Israel or anywhere else.
