Last week in Groningen the top match in the Duch league, between Share Dimension and HSG, was played. In a great ambiance, Groningen had spared no pains or costs to turn the match into a great event. At the end home club Share Dimension defeated HSG 6,5-3,5. Earlier on this website you cound enjoy an impression of the atmoshphere; in this article I collected some game fragments from this crucial match for you.

First of course there was the duel Smeets-Kramnik. Smeets kept himself cool and gained the half point.

Jan Werle won an important game against Friso Nijboer. In a Ruy Lopez Nijboer didn't react resolutely enough to Werle's central push d6-d5 and then he couldn't fight himself back into the game anymore.

Stellwagen is winning everything at the moment and in this match he saved the honour by being the only HSG player to collect a full point. During the press conference he said he wanted to inspire his team mates with his game, but to his disappointment this was not reflected in the final result.

To conclude, a great fight on board 10 where the opponents played until the last seconds.
