Fantasy Sports Are Here: Magnus Carlsen's 'Chess Prophet' Launches For Titled Cup 2024

Titled Tuesdays have already been ramped up massively with the launch of the new Titled Cup, the $100,000 grand prix-style umbrella event to make our weekly tournaments in 2024 even more fierce.

But if that isn't enough to get you tuning in on Tuesdays, now we have a new game which every fan can get involved in.

Chess.com has partnered with GM Magnus Carlsen's new venture Fantasy Chess to launch Chess Prophet, the first fantasy chess game for Titled Tuesdays that you can play alongside all the action.

Fantasy Chess was launched by the world number-one with Norway Chess and Iterate in April 2023. Carlsen is, of course, a fantasy sports aficionado who made headlines worldwide in 2019 for topping the Premier League’s official fantasy football competition of seven million players.

Carlsen's success stunned the world. Now the Norwegian is bringing his expertise in fantasy sports to Chess.com every week.

Chess Prophet will be a big part of Titled Tuesday broadcasts in 2024 and give you the chance to predict the outcomes on the first nine boards, compete, and win prizes along the way. Titled Cup starts on January 2, the first Titled Tuesday of the year, so don't miss out!

Chief Chess Officer IM Danny Rensch said: "We've been excited to explore fantasy chess games (of all kinds) for many years now, and we think partnering Chess Prophet with the inaugural Titled Cup is perfect.

“Now there's even more ways for the community to enjoy its favorite weekly event every Tuesday!"

The rules for playing Chess Prophet are simple yet challenging. You earn points in each round and compete with friends to win fame and unique prizes.

Mirroring the format for the Titled Cup itself, your top-20 results in Chess Prophet throughout the year will be counted as your total points. If you manage to top the league, you will be invited to meet and play against some of the world's best players.

But that's not all. Fantasy Chess is already working on a new, wider fantasy game app that's currently in closed beta and is expected to launch later in 2024. Chess Prophet is just the start.

When asked about the launch of Chess Prophet, Carlsen—who is currently in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, having swept the board at the World Rapid and Blitz Championship—gave a short and sharp comment: "I'd pick me."
