This year's Chigorin Memorial chess festival, in honour of the great Russian chess player Mikhail Chigorin took place from 12-22 October in St.Petersburg.

The main event was the "Classic", a nine round Swiss tournament with more than 250 competitors taking part.

Dmitry Bocharov won his last three games to come from behind and snatch victory by half a point.

The time control for the Classic was 40 moves in 90 minutes, then 30 minutes for the rest of the game with 30 seconds increment from the start.

A nine-round rapid event at a rate of 15 minutes plus 5 second increment also took place, with the Ukrainian Anton Korobov emerging the winner.

The prize fund for the festival was 1,500,000 roubles (approx 48,000 USD).
