CP NSPBCL W5 Report: Back In The Win Column!

Hey guys! The Chessical PROdigies bounced back in a big way this week, as we slowed the Speed Demons in an easy 15-9 victory! After losing for the first time last week to the over-confident CCW, we knew we couldn't dwell on it and take another loss. We knew we needed to come up clutch so that we wouldn't end the season on a losing streak. Thankfully, each board scored fantastic results in a match that was never really in doubt for CP. Let's see what happened!

This week it started on board 4, where @Tebow2Baker recovered well from his loss in W4, as he got back to his winning ways, winning 4-0 against SD's @MRIGANK3307. Not gonna lie, it looked pretty easy for Tebow, as he put CP up 4-0. Here is their 4th game which wrapped up the 4-0 victory.

Next up was board 4 @acastelino, taking on the captain of SD, @1d3_1-0, someone who was finally close to him in rating! acas got another 1.5 vs 1d3. That 1.5 has been his normal score this season and, if that doesn't change for the worse, we've got great chances to win every week, given our success on the lower 2 boards and balance on the top 3. Anyway....acas actually started this match down 0.5-2.5, only to rally and win the last game to make it a respectable 1.5-2.5. Solid score once again from our b4. Here is his win.

Next up was @LightningChess21 (hey, that's me!) on b1, taking on the slightly higher rated @Cobysters on board 1. Despite his opponent being 50 points higher at the time of the match (I am now 30 higher lol) Lightning managed to finally, for the first time all season, not draw a match 2-2, as he pulled off a 3-1 victory! 2 wins were solid, the loss was deserved, but the 4th game? Well....see for yourself.

Yes, yes I did win that game. The poor guy flagged with mate in 1 on the board! Tbh that's really sad, even as the victor here. The win put the score at 8.5-3.5, in favor of CP. This meant that when b6 @neatgreatfire was set to battle @Minecraftprogamer-1, a 4-0 would give us a clear knockout victory! Surprisingly enough, neat's opponent proved he is about,.....400 points underrated or something           -_-    After winning the first two, tight games, neat actually lost the next 2, meaning a 2-2 tie it would be. Obviously neat's opponent is actually 1500 strength at least, if you look at those games he's no 1100 lol. Here is neat's win in game 1, a bit of a swindle.

Now the score is 10.5-5.5. We are still the favorites at this point, as it was extremely unlikely that luisen or winyou would lose 0-4. I figured they'd both get at least 1 point, if not more. Well, they both got more, in one way or another! @Winyou01 had the tough task of playing @James-Nguyen, a 2100 blitz player at the time. That's a big rating difference! By now, most of you have seen that winyou can hang with these guys, but that doesn't make it less impressive that he won 2.5-1.5. Yeah, that's right. Winyou actually won this. The first game was drawn, and the next two were split 1-1. When game 4 started, we already had 12 points, meaning winyou just needed to draw to win. Naturally, winyou won the game, wrapping up an early win for CP! winyou has been on fire since week 1, dominating every opponent he has actually played.

On board 2, @luisen17 and @arceusisthebest did not find a time to play, so the result was deemed by the admins a forfeit draw (Honestly I disagree, as luisen at least suggested more times and put more effort in than his opponent, but it doesn't really matter much, and I'm biased grin.png), making the score a whopping 15-9 for CP! Not bad, eh?

Well, nice job, team! The match was over fairly quickly tbh, but that's kinda good since it means we were pretty active wink.png After losing last week for the first time, it was good that we were able to bounce back and win, otherwise we'd be in some trouble. Now, we can chill out this week, knowing we have our spot in the playoffs secured. But....that doesn't mean we throw the match of course, it just means we shouldn't be so stressed about it. If we can take down RNR this week (and we should btw), we have a great chance to enter the playoffs as the top overall seed, given that CCW has a tough match against the Bacteriophages. Right now, we are 3rd place on the leaderboard. Next week, it'd be nice to say we are in first. But remember, ultimately that's not what we want. We want the glory, the honor, the respect, the bragging rights, the big bright golden trophy with our names on it, we want a freaking championship, bois! If we can keep calm and stay humble, I think we've got great chances to get it done. So, let's get it done! blitz.pngtrophies.png
