Crucial Victory In Women's Grand Prix

The next challenger for the Women's World Chess Championship will be either Nana Dzagnidze of Georgia or Humpy Koneru of India, and the fates paired them together in a crucial first round encounter in the final Women's Grand Prix event in Doha.

Humpy went on the attack, trying to use the advantage of the white pieces but Dzagnidze was equal to the challenge and in the run up to the time control the Indian's position collapsed to hand a vital early victory to Dzagnidze.

Humpy needs to win the tournament and hope that her rival finishes third or worse to overtake her in the overall Grand Prix standings.
