Ding Liren successfully defended his Chinese Chess Championship title in Jiangsu Province, China with a score of 8/11.

Remarkably, this is the third national title for the 19 year old talent who won his first national championship in 2009, and his second in 2011.

The format was a single round-robin with 12 players taking part. There was a separate women's championship in the same format which was won by Huang Qian. Women's world champion Hou Yifan took part in the main event but had a disappointing time, oddly losing both her games to the weakest players in the field.
