Door al het gedoe in Elista is hier al geruime tijd geen aandacht besteed aan schaken zelf. Maar er wordt op dit moment wel degelijk met stukken geschoven!Because of all the fuzz in Elista there hasn't been much chess on this site lately. But there's definitely going on some chess at the moment! In Vall?ɬ©e d'Aoste (Saint-Vincent, Itali?ɬ´) is gisteren een internationaal toernooi begonnen waar Nederlands kampioen Sergei Tiviakov (2668) veruit favoriet is en in Vladimir Epishin (2555), Michele Godena (2528) en Arkadij Rotstein (2521) zijn grootste concurrenten heeft. Ook twee leden van schaakvereniging Promotie, Bernard Bannink (2248) en Willem Broekman (2151), doen in deze open groep mee.Op het moment van schrijven zijn de Open Waalwijkse Schaakkampioenschappen bezig. Grote namen als Timman, Van Wely, Kazimdzhanov, Van der Wiel, Van den Doel en B?ɬ?hm geven daar acte de pr?ɬ©sence. Hier zijn livepartijen te volgen. We zullen snel een verslag (als het goed is met filmpjes!) verzorgen van dit bijzondere evenement.Vandaag is verder de laatste ronde van het Monarch Assurance-toernooi (Isle of Man) waar Alexander Areshchenko (2641) zijn eerste plaats verdedigt; gedeeld tweede staan Vladimir Akopian (2713), Mateusz Bartel (2561) en Sergey Volkov (2628). Ook bijna ten einde is de Ita?ɬ?
