Dortmund Round Three
Round three at Dortmund and more entertaining and hard fought games for chess fans to pore over. This time it was Mamedyarov (pictured) who brought home the only full point of the day, thanks to a slip from Quang Liem in a complex and thrilling game.
Ponomariov played aggressively once again, but this time his calculations went arwy, and he only just held on for a draw with the black pieces against Naiditsch.
Today was Kramnik's turn to unleash the Catalan against Leko, but the Hungarian obtained strong compensation for a sacrificed pawn and it was Kramnik who was glad to escape with a draw.
