The Dortmund Tournament was held from June 23rd to July 1st. The last round pairings were:

Alekseev-Kramnik, Carlsen-Anand, Leko-Mamedyarov, Naiditsch-Gelfand

All the final round games were drawn.

Kramnik clinched the Dortmund title with a fairly easy draw today against Alekseev, Leko had a winning position against Mamedyarov but was unable to convert, Carlsen-Anand agreed for an early draw, and Gelfand had some good winning chances but Naiditsch put up a good defense to draw.

This Dortmund title is probably a nice added birthday present for Mr. Kramnik, who recently celebrated his 32nd birthday on June 25th at the beginning of the tournament. Kramnik wins the tournament by a full point, quite impressive! Kramnik has his eyes set on the World Championship event later this year in Mexico. Could this be a sign of things to come?

Final standings:

1 = Kramnik(5/7)

2-3 = Anand, Alekseev(4/7)

4-5 = Mamedyarov, Leko(3.5/7)

6-7 = Gelfand, Carlsen(3/7)

8 = Naiditsch(2/7)

Here are the final four games from the event:
