Elista Grand Prix Ends In Three-Way Tie

The last three rounds of the Elista Grand Prix saw only one decisive game in each round as the players either tired or simply decided to settle for draws.  The decisive games and some of the harder fought draws can be found below.


The status of the Grand Prix is still in doubt after it's importance was effectively diminished by changes to the WCC qualifying cycle announced by FIDE president Kirsan Ilyumzhinov (pictured).  However, following many protests at the unfairness of changing the rules during the current WCC cycle, it's still possible that Ilyumzhinov may change his mind.


In the meantime, the final standings in the 3rd Grand Prix event in Elista were:
