The British Team have defeated the Netherlands at the Howard Staunton Memorial tournament in London.  Or perhaps one could say that Nigel "Nosher" Short (pictured) defeated the Dutch team since he scored a remarkable 8/10, achieving a performance rating of 2862 Elo.

This excellent result pushes Nosher's live rating back up over 2700, ahead of Mickey Adams, making him the British #1 again.

The final team score in this double round-robin event was Britain 26.5 - 23.5 Netherlands.  Some of the highlights from the competition are shown below.
