Viktoria Cmilyte.jpgThe European Women's Chess Championship 2011 ran from 7-18 May in Tbilisi, Georgia.

Over 100 women competed in an 11-round Swiss competition and Viktorija Cmilyte (pictured) of Lithuania emerged in clear first place with an impressive score of 9/11.  Cmiltye has been runner-up in previous European championships on no less than three occasions!

The top 14 placed finishers also qualified for the Women's World Cup (see below).
