European Youth Championship started
The European Youth Championship started last Saturday, September 10th in Albena, Bulgaria, with the opening ceremony. Each federation can register one player in each of the under 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18 (boys and girls) categories.
On Sunday the first round was played and on Monday the second. It is organized by the Bulgarian Chess Federation and the Ministry of Physical Education and Sports under the auspices of the European Chess Union. The tournament halls are sport hall „Albena“ and the halls „Atlantic“ and „Red“ in hotel Dobrudzha, Albena.
The different tournaments are all 9-round Swiss events running until Tuesday, September 20th and all participants have a rest day on Friday, September 16th. The playing time is 90 minutes for 40 moves plus 30 minutes for the rest of the game with an increment of 30 seconds per move, starting from move one.
