FIDE April 2009 Rating List
The latest official FIDE quarterly rating list has been published today, with Veselin Topalov (pictured) maintaining his #1 spot and surpassing the magic 2800 Elo barrier once more. World champion Vishy Anand is a clear #2 and Magnus Carlsen is a solid #3.
Vladimir Kramnik regains ground to move back up to #4, while Lev Aronian's good form pushes him back into the top 10 at #6.
In contrast Vassily Ivanchuk drops from #3 to #12 and Gata Kamsky drops to #24 following his tough match with Topalov.
The top new entry into the top 100 players is the Russian Igor Kurnosov at #67. Another familiar name making his first appearance is 15 year-old Wesley So of the Philippines at #89.
