First FIDE rated Scottish Blitz Championship

The organizers informed us about the Scottish Blitz Championship which takes place on Saturday 16th June. What follows is their press release:

The first FIDE-rated Scottish Blitz Championship will be held at the Quincentenary building, Royal Surgeons’ Hall, Edinburgh. The international event will take place on Saturday 16th June with a guaranteed prize fund of £2,000. Super GM Arkadij Naiditsch, currently Germany’s top player, has confirmed his entry into the one-day event. With cheap flights, trains and buses available to Edinburgh and accommodation from as little as £10 for the night – there’s no excuses to miss out on this fun blitz event! Time control is 3 minutes + 2 seconds increment and official Fide Blitz rules will be employed.

First prize is stood at £800 and top boards will be broadcast live via DGT boards over the internet, and a live webcam feed showing the top board will be shown. The event finishes at 16:00pm on the Saturday allowing for plenty of time to explore the beautiful Capital city of Scotland before your journey home (or you could come for a curry and a pint with a bunch of us!).
