Grenke Chess Classic Round 1
Fabiano Caruana opened with a win in the first round of the Grenke Chess Classic in Baden-Baden.
The Italian-American won a fine game against Georg Meier to take an early lead in this 6-player double round-robin competition.
World Champion Vishy Anand had to tread carefully to earn a draw against an in-form Mickey Adams, while the game between Arkadij Naiditsch and Daniel Fridman was a hard-fought draw.
