Op de website van Vladimir Kramnik staat een interessant interview dat IM Michael Rahal tijdens de Olympiade met hem had voor het blad Peon de Rey. Het herstel na zijn ziekte, het zwakke optreden van het Russische team en dat van Anand, de nieuwe generatie, Kramniks terugkeer naar 1.Pf3 ("Basically, I saw Khalifman's book on Kramnik 1.Nf3 and had a look at it. It looked quite good and I said to myself 'OK, let's play some of these openings'."), zijn mooie partij tegen Aronian, zijn matches tegen Topalov ("It's quite funny and I don't know why, but I used to play some very beautiful games against Topalov, especially against him, much more than against any other player...") en tegen Deep Fritz... het komt allemaal aan bod.

Peter Doggers

Peter Doggers joined a chess club a month before turning 15 and still plays for it. He used to be an active tournament player and holds two IM norms.

Peter has a Master of Arts degree in Dutch Language & Literature. He briefly worked at New in Chess, then as a Dutch teacher and then in a project for improving safety and security in Amsterdam schools.

Between 2007 and 2013 Peter was running ChessVibes, a major source for chess news and videos acquired by Chess.com in October 2013.

As our Director News & Events, Peter writes many of our news reports. In the summer of 2022, The Guardian’s Leonard Barden described him as “widely regarded as the world’s best chess journalist.”
