Ivanchuk Wins Tal Blitz Tournament

What do Grandmasters do to relax?  Well, at the end of the Mikhail Tal Memorial there was a big blitz tournament over two days featuring 18 of the strongest players in the world, including all of the competitors in the main event, except Alexei Shirov.  The extra players having fun in the blitz included Magnus Carlsen, Peter Svidler, Sergey Karjakin and Anatoly Karpov.

Despite the extra competition, Vassily Ivanchuk (pictured), the winner in the main event, won again to make it a double triumph.  Perhaps we shouldn't be surprised.  Chucky gets so much practice playing blitz during the time trouble in his normal games that he has an unfair advantage! Laughing
