Vladimir Kramnik's poor start to the Russian Superfinal continued in the third round with a loss to Sergey Karjakin.

Despite recovering from a loss to Peter Svidler in the opening round by winning in round two, Kramnik faltered again when facing the official #1 ranked Russian player (though Kramnik has regained that honour on the live rating list!).

All other games in the third round were drawn.

The standings after three rounds in Moscow:

 Karjakin, Sergey  2788 2
 Morozevich, Alexander  2694 2
 Svidler, Peter  2739 2
 Galkin, Alexander  2598
 Nepomniachtchi, Ian  2711
 Grischuk, Alexander  2746 1
 Timofeev, Artyom  2665 1
 Kramnik, Vladimir  2781 1
