sergey_karjakin3.jpgSergey Karjakin (pictured) beat Liviu-Dieter Nisipeanu in round six at the Bazna Kings tournament in Medias to join Magnus Carlsen as co-leader.

Nisipeanu tried the Schliemann, but he lost his way in the ensuing complications and Karjakin eventually took the whole point after a long endgame struggle.

Magnus Carlsen said on his blog "I didn't sleep well and was happy to force a repetition of moves around move 30. Nakamura was visibly unhappy but realistic enough to take the draw instead of playing on in a slightly worse position".

Vassily Ivanchuk had a better day after his loss yesterday, achieving a slightly better game with black against Teimour Radjabov without really threatening to win.

The standings after six rounds:

 Carlsen, Magnus  NOR 2815 4
 Karjakin, Sergey  RUS 2776 4
 Nakamura, Hikaru  USA 2774 3
 Radjabov, Teimour  AZE 2744
 Ivanchuk, Vassily  UKR 2776
 Nisipeanu, Liviu-Dieter  ROU 2659 2

Games start at 15:30 local time (12:30 UTC) except the last round which is 2 hours earlier.

The time control is 2 hours for the first 40 moves, 60 minutes for the next 20 moves, then 15 minutes to finish with a 30 second increment after move 60.

The official site with live broadcasts of the games is here, and the full draw can be found here. Note that the schedule has been changed so that there is only one rest day (which has been and gone) so the tournament finishes on 21 June, a day earlier than originally scheduled.
