Koneru Humpy Wins In Round 3

Ratings favourite Koneru Humpy (pictured) from India won her third round game today to recover somewhat from her disastrous start to the North Urals Cup.  Her victim was the veteran Swedish GM Pia Cramling who now trails the field on 0.5/3.

Ushenina versus Stefanova and Yuhua against Muzychuk were quickly agreed drawn in 14 and 18 moves respectively.  Where has their fighting spirit suddenly gone?  Perhaps by way of compensation, the Pogonina versus Sebag encounter lasted over 100 moves and at least gave the fans an exciting game.

All other games were drawn, so Antoaneta Stefanova retains her early lead by half a point.
