Vladimir Kramnik continues to march inexorably towards his 10th Dortmund title, today beating Georg Meier to stretch his lead to 2 full points, with just 3 rounds remaining.

In contrast Ruslan Ponomariov's uneven tournament continued with a loss to Anish Giri, who leaps above him in the standings.

Le Quang Liem had a strong position against Hikaru Nakamura, but failed to capitalise on it. A fortunate escape for Nakamura, who has dropped to #11 on the live ranking list, just below his compatriot Gata Kamsky.

The standings after round seven:

 Kramnik, Vladimir  RUS 2781 6
Le, Quang Liem  VIE 2715 4

 Ponomariov, Ruslan  UKR 2764 3
 Nakamura, Hikaru  USA 2770
