Viva Las Vegas! The 2011 Las Vegas International Chess Festival took place from 9-12 June at the South Point Hotel, Casino and Spa.

This enormous event played host to a staggering number of players and separate competitions over four days, including the showpiece National Open.

After a six round Swiss competition the National Open title was shared between Loek Van Wely from the Netherlands and Varuzhan Akobian from California, US.  They each received $4,800.
