BundesligaBesides the super events in Nanjing and Elista, this weekend also the eighth and ninth round, and the last two encounters of the seventh round take place in the "Schachbundesliga". Again, the highest chess division in Germany offers from Friday to Sunday all in all 144 games which will be covered live on the internet.

The superior leader Baden-Baden plays in Eppingen and is clear favourite against Kreuzberg (a district of Berlin) and Dresden. The probably most interesting encounter will take place in Tegernsee where the hometeam will meet Bremen. The strongest competitor of Baden-Baden is M?ɬºlheim who faces Katernberg (a district of Essen), Hamburg and Berlin. M?ɬºlheim has the most successful player in his squad so far: Russian grandmaster Konstantin Landa with 5,5 out of 6 and a performance of 2985. After the ninth round the Schachbundesliga makes a winter break until the end of January 2009.
