Leko holds Carlsen on Day 1

In the rapid match between the Hungarian GM Peter Leko (pictured) and Norway's Magnus Carlsen, the opening day ended with both games drawn.  The first game saw Magnus signify his aggressive intentions by playing the razor-sharp Sicilian Dragon, but it was not enough to defeat the solid play of Leko.

The second game was disappointing, ending in a draw by repetition after just 18 moves of a Caro-Kann. Hopefully day 2 will bring more excitement!
