Mamedyarov wins 2007 Essent Tournament!

The Essent Tournament was held from October 14-20, 2007 in Hoogeveen, Netherlands.

Final standings:

1) GM Shakhryar Mamedyarov (4.5/6)

2) GM Loek van Wely (4/6)

3) GM Ruslan Ponomariov (3.5/6)

4) GM Zaven Andriasyan (0/6)

 

Mamedyarov finished with an impressive +3 score to win the event! While on the other end of the spectrum Andriasyan lost each and every game. But this was not so bad as the 3 other players in the event were all at least 100 rating points above him. Despite losing all of his games Andriasyan played some exciting and combative chess.
