Maxime Vachier-Lagrave (pictured) won the Biel GM Tournament with a score of 6/10, half a point ahead of Vassily Ivanchuk and Alexander Morozevich.

Maxime drew his last 2 games, but it proved enough to win since Chucky lost to Moro in the penultimate round after a rook sacrifice proved a little too ambitious.

Congratulations to Maxime on winning a major event at just 18 years of age, and without losing a single game!

The final standings were:

Vachier-Lagrave, Maxime    FRA   2703 *   *   ½   1 ½   ½   ½   ½   ½   ½   ½   1 6
Morozevich, Alexander   RUS  2751 ½  0 *  *  ½  1 1 0 1 1 0 ½
Ivanchuk, Vassily   UKR  2703 ½  ½  ½  0 *  *  ½  ½  ½  ½  1 1
Alekseev, Evgeny   RUS  2714 ½  ½  0 1 ½  ½  *  *  ½  ½  ½  ½  5
Gelfand, Boris   ISR  2755 ½  ½  0 0 ½  ½  ½  ½  *  *  ½  ½  4
Caruana, Fabiano   ITA  2670 ½  0 1 ½  0 0 ½  ½  ½  ½  *  *  4

Special mention must go to Morozevich who played lots of creative, entertaining and exciting chess and featured in 7 of the 10 decisive games in the tournament!  He ended with 4 wins, 3 losses and only 3 draws.

Due to technical problems, I am unable to post any games, but they are available at the official site.
