Nanjing Round 3 - All Draws

All games were drawn in round 3 of the Pearl Spring tournament in Nanjing, China.

The influence of Garry Kasparov was felt once again today, as Magnus Carlsen chose the Gruenfeld Defence against Wang Yue (pictured).

It proved to be a good decision, with the chances for victory definitely leaning more towards Carlsen's active black pieces.  However, Wang Yue skilfully survived to reach a drawn endgame.  The Carlsen juggernaut is halted for now, but he keeps his full point lead over his competitors.

Radjabov nurtured a small edge against Jakovenko, but had to concede a draw after 32 moves, and Leko had enough active play for a pawn deficit to hold Topalov to a draw in their game.

The standings after three rounds:

Carlsen, Magnus   NOR   2772
Wang Yue  CHN  2736
Jakovenko, Dmitry  RUS  2742
Radjabov, Teimour  AZE  2757
Leko, Peter  HUN  2762 1
Topalov, Veselin  BUL  2813 1
