Nanjing Round 8 Update
After a rather subdued round 7 in Nanjing, round 8 was a heartstopping delight. Carlsen pressed hard in a terrific battle against Wang Yue, and was finally rewarded when Yue went astray after defending bravely for a long time. Heartbreaking for Yue, but the Carlsen bandwagon just rolls on and on. His will to win seems incredible!
The Gruenfeld made yet another appearance as Topalov used it to crush Leko, and Jakovenko earned his first victory by gradually subduing Radjabov's Dragon.
All that excitement has stretched out the field, but with just 2 rounds to go Carlsen seems destined to earn a spectacular tournament victory.
